about
Wood//Work Collective is proud to present ‘ric ki’, the new single from Damon Bell (DeepBlak, Media Fury, Don’t Be Afraid), and Khalil Anthony (Delusions of Grandeur, Lumberjacks from Hell, Freerange), off of the brain altering new ep, “WATUSI".
These two are not new to working together, having their first collaboration appear on Damon Bell’s double LP, “Blues For The Libyan”. The lead track, “Chromosome Replacement” brought together Bell and Anthony for an otherworldly union that weaves their extensive talents into an “afro-futurist-black-matter-past-life” soundscape.
Their second collaboration, “2” e.p., allowed the duo the ability to stretch their musical chops and create an exemplary project with expansive sonic experimentation and a mature vocal presentation.
The new songs that make up the soon to come E.P., WATUSI, are an impressive collection of songs that the two recorded during 2018 in Oakland, CA. ‘ric kí’ is the first song kicking off a release schedule of 1 year of music from the duo that will be released bi-monthly, leading to a full length album in the fall.
On “ric kí”:
dare I say an Indigenous tinge, melancholic though, like what happened to Ric kí? Are they still on this plane? Is this a séance?
-Afrikan Sciences
Damon Bell + Khalil Anthony are a cosmic ancestral reunion.

lyrics
come back to me ric kí
i didn't want to leave
when you were leaving
i didn't want to go
where you were going
i'd rather be alone
waiting
chorus
come back to me ric kí
we didn't get to have
our last dance
come back to me ric kí
we didn't get to have
our last chance at love
come back to me ric kí
you taught me how to laugh
when i was sad
you showed me something new
showed me something like
your secrets
chorus
come back to me ric kí
we didn't get to have
our last dance
come back to me ric kí
we didn't get to have
our last chance at love
everywhere i look
i see you
images on ads
you're working
i'm waiting
for nothing in particular
come back to me ric kí
chorus
come back to me ric kí
we didn't get to have
our last dance
come back to me ric kí
we didn't get to have
our last chance at love

I just got hip to Kaidi's music. He has a very great ear! But I automatically fell in love with Feeling Happy once I've heard it. Shamika Sanders-Sykes
